The Opportunity
Mawer Investment Management is looking for a Data Analyst who can demonstrate a commitment to our core values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, client service, and long-term vision.
The successful candidate, reporting to the Manager of FP&A will work on our Finance team to help maintain oversight on AUM data, develop insights and build easy to use tools to support business decisions. The role requires a motivated self-starter passionate about data excellence who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. Proven technical skills with SQL, KQL, and Power BI to extract, analyze, and visualize data are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into analysis and reports
- Analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, develop insights, and provide recommendations to support business decisions
- Develop proof of concepts for dashboards, reports and work closely with the Business Technology team to implement
- Identify opportunities to optimize data collection, analysis, and reporting processes
- Support Finance team on operational tasks and process improvements
- Perform ad-hoc analysis where required to assist management in development of strategy
Application requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years progressive experience
- Professional designation – CFA, MBA, or CPA is an asset
- Experienced and proficient with SQL, KQL, and proficient in Power BI
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required – demonstrated ability to summarize and distill large volumes of data into meaningful insights
- Advanced financial and analytical skills with proven problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy with a proven track record of accountability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate across all levels within the organization
