Overview
We have an amazing opportunity for a Junior Designer to join our Creative team. The
principal role of the Junior Designer is to respond to creative briefs, supporting the team
with brainstorming activities, helping to create designs and maintaining the integrity of
the work for our clients.
The Junior Designer will work closely with the Creative Directors to build up their creative skills, to gain an in-depth understanding and knowledge of how to create compelling corporate communications designs, and to develop their technical, digital and publishing skills.
In time, as your career progresses, you will have the chance to gain direct exposure to
our clients, the new business process, and also potentially the opportunity to travel whilst working with our increasing overseas client base. We will provide you with a range of opportunities and various platforms to develop your career within this growing

Responsibilities:
- To actively contribute to creative ideas and design solutions which will impress
clients and your team;
- To executive high-quality designs for project briefs assigned to you, always seeking
to push and challenge your briefs to produce outstanding solutions;
- To respond to team design amendments and to find suitable solutions which meet
the client expectations and maintain the quality and integrity of the designs;
- To actively enhance your knowledge of all print processes and press passing;
- To support the team with ad-hoc tasks such as image searches and creating web
assets;
- To work in close communication with the Creative Directors and Account
- Management teams to achieve cost efficiency and timely delivery of all projects and
assigned deadlines;
- To liaise with third party suppliers to receive quotes for external work, such as
printing and photography, and to work closely with the Creative Directors on
creating briefs and reviewing supplier work to ensure quality standards are
maintained;
- To consistently apply Black Sun’s approval and quality assurance processes and
procedures;
- To demonstrate effective use of all creative software, including InDesign, Illustrator
and Photoshop software; and
- To continually seek new creative inspiration and ideas, and develop and enhance
your software and technology skills, sharing these insights with the Creative team
and applying your knowledge to your projects.
Reporting Relationships
Reporting to: the Executive Creative Director
Work closely with: the Creative, Account Management and Publishing teams
Qualifications, experience and skills:
The successful candidate will hold or have experience in/ with:
- Graduate, with Graphic Design degree level qualification from a reputable university;
- 0 – 2 years’ graphic design experience, preferably within an agency environment;
- Knowledgeable about digital production and publishing; and
- Fully conversant with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

- Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect
- both externally and internally;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Passionate about design;
- Strong ‘can do’ attitude with an innate ability to take initiative and work by yourself
- as well as in a team;
- Flexibility and team focussed, non-hierarchical approach with a ‘roll up your sleeves’
- attitude to getting the job done; and
- A great sense of humour and fun
