If you have a passion for Cyber Security, we have an exciting opportunity in our Digital Group within the Operations Division to undertake a Level 6 Cyber Security Technology Professional Apprenticeship.
Dstl Digital Group (DDG) provide the essential digital tools and expertise that enables DSTL to deliver cutting edge Science and Technology. We have a multi-faceted role supporting not just Dstl, but also MOD, its agencies, the wider defence community and Other Government Departments (OGDs). Job description
In this role you will follow apprentice standard ST0409 Cyber Security Technical Professional (integrated degree) and upon completion will receive a BSC (Hons) Cyber Security Technical Professional Degree and formally recognised for entry to Institute of Information Security Professionals membership at Associate level. This course in done as blending learning which mean it will be a mixture of online and in person learning. As part of your role in Dstl you will:
- Be integral to supporting the development of the UK’s cyber security and defence capabilities within DDG.
- Conduct technical security activities helping to detect and respond to incidents within Dstl network environments.
- Support the grading and reporting of incidents and associated vulnerabilities, working closely under the guidance of a variety of tasking leads.
- Analyse and evaluate security threats and hazards to systems, services and processes across Dstl’s IT estate.
- Support the provision of corporate governance and technical advice within Dstl to ICT programmes, projects and support services.
- Drive the governance and direction of the technical architecture of corporate systems.
- Assist with the registration, renewal and associated audit activity, working closely with others to ensure our requirements are met, all within security and industry good practice.
Person specification
We are looking for someone who has:
- A passion for computer sciences and finding solutions to difficult challenges.
- The ability to think clearly, systematically and logically, and with good organisational skills.
- An aptitude for picking up new technologies and processes and understanding how they work.
- Taking responsibility for your own learning outcomes.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge and practical skills in computing, this may have been obtained outside of the work environment.
- A talent for developing good working relationships with key customers and partners.
Important Information
This role start September 2023. You must be 18 to work at Dstl, therefore you must turn 18 before September 2023 to apply for the apprenticeship.
Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. For this reason, only UK Nationals will be able to apply for this role. This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
