Job Title: Education Officer, NewsWise, The Guardian Foundation
Salary: The salary range for this role is £32,000 - £34,000 per annum pro rata
Hours: Part time, 4 days/week
Contract Details: 12 month fixed term contract, commencing in April 2023
Location: Kings Place, 90 York Way, Kings Cross, London N1. We adopt a hybrid working model, with a split of time at the office and remote work. This role will involve regular travel and occasional overnight stays within the UK
About the role
We are looking for a talented and motivated Education Officer to join our award-winning NewsWise programme for a 12 month FTC. You will be passionate about inspiring young people about news and supporting them to develop critical media literacy skills. As a qualified teacher you will have at least two years teaching experience in primary education with expertise in KS2 and KS1 curriculum development. Strong pedagogical knowledge in English/literacy, PSHE education and/or digital literacy would be an advantage, as would expertise in critical literacy practices.
This role will involve facilitating our school and family workshops across the UK, both in person and remotely. In addition you will be developing new resources for lower Key Stage 2, co-delivering training sessions and webinars, and contributing to the overall development of the NewsWise programme.
The successful candidate will be learning focused, adaptable with an ability to use their initiative, and able to deliver engaging and high quality educational experiences. You should have strong digital skills and be confident in using and teaching with technology. Enthusiasm and creative thinking are essential and you should have a real desire for inclusion and widening participation in the media industry.

The programme is run in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and PSHE Association.
