Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (Depending on experience)

About the role:

We are thrilled to present a captivating opportunity for a highly skilled and accomplished Credit Controller to become a valuable addition to our esteemed Finance department. As a vital member of our team, you will take on a multifaceted role encompassing debt factoring, debt collection, and meticulous account reconciliation.

In this role, you will wield your expertise to proactively manage and optimize our financial operations. By skilfully handling debt factoring, you will play a pivotal role in streamlining our cash flow and ensuring smooth financial transactions. Additionally, your exceptional debt collection abilities will be instrumental in maintaining healthy financial relationships with our valued clients while upholding the utmost professionalism.

Your meticulous attention to detail will shine through as you excel in account reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial records. Your keen analytical skills will come into play, empowering you to identify potential discrepancies swiftly and take proactive measures to rectify them.

Main duties and essential responsibilities:

  • Total control of Debtors’ Ledger chasing customer to reduce DSO days.
  • Daily factoring of invoices to HSBC Invoice Finance by EDI.
  • Debtor management/chasing clients for debts via phone and email liaising HSBC Credit Controller.
  • Reconciling customer accounts and collaborating with the rest of the finance. team to resolve any billing issues escalating to appropriate internal colleagues around the business.
  • Dealing with HSBC Message Board and raising any concerns that could affect the business.
  • Completing aged debtors and other financial reports for review in the weekly Finance meetings.
  • Opening new customer accounts.
  • Other Accounts Office administration, including filing and answering telephone.
  • Liaise with internal departments.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • The ideal candidate for this position would be an individual with proven experience in working within a Credit Control function and is looking for a position where they are able to demonstrate these skills.
  • Experience of debt factoring, debt collection and account reconciliation.
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience of using Sage 50.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High degree of integrity, diligence and reliability.
  • A good team player, working closely with the Financial Controller.
  • Experience of Protean software or other job-management platforms is a plus!
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in credit control for companies with £1 million turnover.
