The Role
This role will report to the Head of M&A and assist the Corporate Development (“CD”) team in all aspects of the department’s activity, in particular:
- The identification, evaluation, and execution of inorganic opportunities, including in respect of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures/ partnerships, and minority investments across the Group;
- The project management of other activities led by CD (e.g., capital allocation analysis); and
- Developing and managing relevant external and internal networks required.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist and support the rest of the CD team in the delivery of CD objectives and the day-to-day delivery of specific projects and initiatives, including:
- Maintain pipeline of opportunities through regular calls/ meetings
- With respect existing investments: support the CD team to monitor those investments and report on those, when appropriate
- With respect new projects:
- Engage and collaborate with division/ category/ local and regional management teams to conduct initial assessment of opportunities.
- Coordinate development of a business plan and build the financial modelling of target projects.
- Coordinate diligence workstream to surface key risks and opportunities.
- Effectively manage outside vendors (banking partners/brokers, legal and financial advisors)
- Prepare briefing reports, updates, and recommendations for presentation to various stakeholders (within CD, executive leadership team, plc Board)
- Assist with ad-hoc administrative duties, as required
- Identify and implement new process improvement opportunities
- Contribute enthusiastically to all aspects of the CD team and its activities, with energy, resilience, drive, and commitment.
Skills & Experience
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent
- 4 to 5-year experience in big 4 (PWC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY) corporate finance/ transaction services teams; or senior analyst level (2 to 3-year experience) in bulge bracket investment bank
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written communication, both in PowerPoint presentations (“bullet style”) and fully fleshed reports in Word
- Financial modelling skills in Excel a plus
- Highly responsive, organised and detail-oriented
- Prepared to travel internationally
Able to:
- Work independently and self-motivate himself/ herself since most of the work is done remotely with a team who is based in different locations
- Take proactive actions to progress projects, understand stakeholders’ perspectives and identify issues
- Effectively manage, motivate, and challenge various stakeholders
- Identify patterns, connections, and underlying issues in complex situations
- Demonstrate clarity of thought and understanding of projects being considered by CD and prioritisation
