Corporate Communications Assistant
Up to £45,500 plus excellent benefits (Work level 6A)

We’re looking for a corporate communications assistant to join our team.
In this role, you’ll help us to share our Co-op’s story and manage and enhance our outstanding reputation by assisting in a wide range of corporate communications activity. We’ll look to you to support with everything from key communication events and business performance communications to issuing press releases and identifying social media and colleague communication opportunities. No two days are the same in this varied role, where you’ll work closely with colleagues of all levels and gain exposure across the business. What you’ll do:
- assist with key corporate projects such as Co-op’s annual general meeting from a PR and comms perspective
- support the communication of our interim and annual report and accounts to all audiences, including Co-op colleagues, board, council, media, and key influencers
- play an active role in developing and managing the corporate communications plan
- join project teams for each piece of comms, creating campaign plans, writing materials, preparing press releases, and managing relationships with internal partners and external agencies
- support with Chief Executive colleague communications, including social media opportunities
- Work as part of a wider Group Communications team across the whole of Co-op
This role would suit people who have:
- previous experience within colleague comms, and ideally PR within a large matrixed organisation
- previous experience of writing comms and press releases
- experience in creating communication and campaign plans and managing multiple, projects and pieces of work
- the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills
