Job description
We’re taking our customer aftercare to the next level! As a leading Housing Organisation committed to developing and delivering high-quality new homes and we’re now seeking a Defects and Quality Manager to join our Development team.
This is a key role where you’ll provide technical expertise and guidance from pre-construction phase through to final handover on a variety of diverse housing projects, whilst leading the Defects team to provide the very best aftercare service to our tenants in their newly built home.
Working closely with developers, and through effective leadership of a small professional team, you’ll also maintain and manage a customer-centric and effective post contract defects process - liaising with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve a brilliant level of satisfaction amongst customers living in their brand new homes.

Our ideal candidate? We’re seeking a commercially astute defects professional with a customer-centric outlook. You’ll also demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience of identifying and resolving construction defects in new build homes
- Experience of managing and driving the performance of a team
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of construction contracts including builder responsibilities
- Experience of or the ability to manage escalations/complaints from dissatisfied customers respectfully, sometimes in their own home
- Experience of or the ability to manage an external repairs service.
Our Development team embrace flexible working - the nature of this role means you can work remotely from home with typically two days a week in the office (Birmingham, Bath Row). At times you may be required to travel to development sites across the Midland Heart portfolio which stretches across the West & East Midlands (between Stoke-on-Trent, across to Leicester, down to Northampton).
