This role works in a team of corporate communications advisers who develop and implement communication strategies for the organisation to ensure that unified, consistent, and positive messages define and promote the corporate identity and Shell’s mission to deliver Powering Progress, through the frame of the Corporate Reputation Plan and associated activities.
This role is an excellent development opportunity for a communications professional who has good integration skills and can collaborate across the function to develop an aligned view on priorities and focus areas for Shell at the corporate level. The accountabilities will develop as we transform in the years to come.
Where you fit in
This role sits at the heart of the Global Corporate Communications team which is tasked with helping to shape the way Shell shows up in the public sphere. The Corporate Communications Advisor works in an integrated team of five who report to the Corporate Communications Manager.
What’s the role?
The Corporate Communications Advisor is accountable for:
- Helping to manage the overall positioning of the company as we navigate our way through the energy transition (and all associated challenges)
- Assisting in the delivery of the Corporate Reputation Plan to embed reputation at a company level, working closely with others across CR and other functions including Investor Relations and Strategy
- Collaborating on the delivery of Executive Committee (EC) reputation schedule (in particular helping to shape and deliver senior leaders’ programme of activities throughout the year) This includes helping to deliver CEO/CFO engagement strategies, working with others as appropriate
- Contribute to driving quality reputation management through the function (in line with the Shell Reputation Standard) including assisting the delivery of Corporate (Reputation) Risk Management Process and implementation Identification and management of reputation risks and coordination of related content (Reputation Book)
- Supporting the delivery of corporate events such as Strategy Day’s and the annual AGM and partner with P&A for reputation and communications support for external activities such as Davos and UN climate week
- Support the development of corporate campaigns and effective content in support of our core content themes
- Providing corporate communication support and disclosure for corporate functions as required
What we need from you?
- A strategic, creative, dynamic and collaborative communications professional and an active self-starter who is quick to learn
- A corporate communication all-rounder; someone who can adapt to the many needs placed on a strong corporate communications team
- Ability to become a thought partner for colleagues across the business and functions.
- Ability to develop strong, trusted relationships with colleagues across Shell in both business and country roles
- Experience in drafting / writing content briefs and communications plans
- Experience of working with Creative Solutions
- A curiosity to identify opportunities for communications using insights to inform decision making
- A learner mindset: being a role model in your levels of curiosity and being able to learn from your mistakes and successes
- Event management
