Brakes are currently recruiting for a Nutritionist to join the technical department on a full time, permeant basis and will report to the Head of Technical Services Product Safety & Nutrition.
This role is a remote (home based) position, however occasional travel will be required for various team meetings to the Ashford, Kent office, as well as other Brakes & customer locations.
It is the Nutritionist’s responsibility to provide expert nutrition and healthy eating support, advice, and information service to Brakes internal and external stakeholders. You should also be comfortable educating both internal and external stakeholders in nutrition and healthy eating and sharing nutrition education through various social media channels. It will also be your responsibility to maintain awareness of existing and upcoming legislation and policies relevant to Brakes and our customers and be capable of relaying relevant information back to stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Maintain links with government bodies and NGOs and represent the Company’s interests
- Act as a Company spokesperson on all nutrition issues
- Advise the Company on appropriate policies related to nutrition and diet
- Maintain awareness of current legislation, emerging nutrition trends and issues through regular review of relevant developments and attending events as required to maintain CPD and communicating these to the business
- Advise the Company on actions needed to comply with official nutritional guidance and legislation related to nutrition and health
- Use social media effectively to deliver nutrition messages and advice
- Analyse data, provide advice and information to category teams and product development managers to enable products to meet the requirements of agreed technical policies, and product ranges to meet the nutrition needs of customers
- Provide nutrition training for staff at an appropriate level as required for the business
- To provide nutrition advice and expertise to customers, attending and speaking at sales events and customer meetings and support the new business process.
- Manage the recipe management systems in use in the business and ensure they are maintained and updated to meet the needs of the business and customers. This will include systems available for customer use, systems for internal use and dissemination of recipe information through all media.
- Work with Marketing teams to underpin all programmes with sound nutrition policies and ensure all publications meet legal requirements
- Ensure that current business product data information management systems have the relevant nutritional information required to meet legal obligations and customer expectations
- Undertake nutrition projects in areas of technical, marketing and supporting the sales force.
- Raise awareness of nutrition through internal communications to all members of staff
About you:
The successful candidate will be educated to Degree level, (Nutrition, Food Science or similar degree), and have extensive Nutritionist experience within a similar food organisation and be a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr). You will be competent in the use of IT and social media; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, MS Office as you will be posting out nutritional information for our stakeholders through our company pages. You’ll have excellent customer service and communication skills and enjoy dealing with different levels of people across the business from other departments. As a suitable candidate you will have excellent organisation skills and have the ability to prioritise your workload ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards and have a passion to positively influence on the subject of healthy eating.
