School Attendance and Pupil Data Co-ordinator
Pertemps are recruiting for a school attendance co-ordinator, on a permanent basis, for a local academy who are an exceptional coeducational secondary school.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within in a secondary school, having experience using SIMS and have a high degree of computer literacy skills.

All teachers and support staff are accountable for the way in which they exercise authority, manage risk, use resources and protect pupils from discrimination and avoidable harm. All staff, whether paid or voluntary, have a duty to keep young people safe and to protect them from physical harm. When an individual accepts a role that involves working with children and young people they need to understand and acknowledge that the responsibilities and trust are inherent in that role.
An Enhanced DBS check will be carried out prior to employment with appropriate barred list checks, together with thorough safer recruitment checks, and the post holder must be eligible to work in the UK. All new staff are asked to complete Safeguarding, On-line safety and Prevent training prior to employment (via National College), if current certificates/evidence of recent training cannot be produced. DBS checks for existing staff are renewed every 5 years, and all staff are expected to sign an annual Disqualification Safeguarding Declaration Form. We hold regular statutory Child Protection/Safeguarding and Prevent training and updates which all staff are required to attend (sometimes outside of your normal working day).
Working hours: 32.5 hours per week and term time + 2 weeks
Salary: £16509 p.a. grade 3, Point 3 (full time equivalent £21,676)

The job itself:
- Provide clerical and administrative support for the Academy’s attendance system
- Work closely with the House/pastoral and safeguarding team to promote good attendance
- Communicate with parents/carers, pupils and outside agencies regarding attendance
- Maintain the attendance data and produce DfE absence reports (twice yearly) and Local Authority returns
- Provide administrative support to SLT/Heads of House/Mentors about attendance
- Produce absence reports/lists/information/data/graphs as required
- Produce registers in the event of a fire/fire drill/emergency evacuation
- Undertake reception duties, answering the telephone, signing in visitors and face to face enquiries (from time to time, as requested, to cover short term colleague absence)
- Provide support for colleagues within the admin support team during peak periods and short-term absence
- Carry out any reasonable tasks or duties that may be required/requested by the Principal or the Assistant Vice Principal (Safeguarding, health, attendance, vulnerable pupils)
- Provide administrative support to the academy
- Co ordinate monitor maintain the attendance system
- Co ordinate monitor and maintain the pupil records utilising the school’s data base
- Ensure accurate registers are taken for all AM and PM session
- Working closely with the Education Welfare Officer
Ideal candidate
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English at grade ‘C’/Level 4 or above or an equivalent
- Good working knowledge of ICT (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel)
- Experience of working with children in a professional setting
- Experience of working in a secondary school
- Working knowledge of SIMS (schools information management system) or similar
- Working knowledge of Satchel One (MIS education learning platform) or equivalent
- Good understanding of safeguarding procedures
- Knowledge of First Aid (or willingness to undertake training)
- Ability to write reports and letters
- Ability to use clear language
- Ability to listen effectively
- Ability to overcome communication barriers with children and adults
- Ability to negotiate effectively with adults and children
