What does a Web & Digital Content Officer do at Hillingdon?

The Web & Digital Content Officer, takes responsibility for curating engaging digital and online content, whilst enhancing user experience, and actively contributing to the wider digital transformation across our council services.

Accountable for the day-to-day management, ownership and development of the council’s digital communications, the Content Officer utilises their CMS (Content Management System) skills to identify opportunities to innovate the council's SharePoint intranet.

Reporting into the Media, Campaigns and Digital Manager, the Content Officer collaborates with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Council officers, residents, local businesses, and partners building effective communication channels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Audit, review, and edit existing content to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Manage and deliver vital digital communication tools and resources, including online forms, surveys and electronic newsletters
  • Ensure the Council's website is current, engaging and user-friendly for residents
    and other users, and information is easily accessible and readily identifiable to
    search engines using a variety of search techniques.
  • Improve online access to Council services by identifying and developing more on-
    line interactions for residents through the effective delivery of public service portals.

About you

Evidencing a significant experience of producing innovative and engaging website and digital content, including social media, you'll have expert knowledge of content management systems, with the ability to analyse and interpret key data insights.

Able to demonstrate your skills in writing accurate, consistent and high-quality copy, and editing, you'll have expert communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to present information to a wide audience at various levels.

To be considered for this role, you must be able to evidence the following within your application:

  • Expert knowledge of Content Management Systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Managing online content for large organisation within a corporate communications team
  • Creative web design skills, and knowledge of relevant software
