You will be committed to collective and compassionate leadership to further develop the strategic vision and clinical model within this supportive and dynamic partnership. You will lead a small and growing team of LYPFT psychologists and therapists working with a diverse population of people who have substance abuse difficulties and co-existing mental health problems. The team delivers training and supervision of psychosocial interventions and specialist psychological therapy.

You will be supported by operational and clinical lead colleagues, both within the partnership, and wider across Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are proud that 100% of psychological professions within LYPFT recently surveyed reported they felt supported by colleagues.

Suitable candidates can be appointed to the higher end role but we are open to candidates seeking a development post, which will offer you a clear pathway to achieving the experience, skills and knowledge required to secure the higher end role/pay band within the team once the agreed competencies have been met.

You will be provided with a supportive learning environment for a defined period, which is designed to help you meet the requirements of the higher end role. A further interview will be arranged at the end of this period.

If on a development plan the post holder will be recruited to the lower band job description and person specification.

Working within the addiction field with people with cooccurring mental health issues and complex trauma, the postholder will ensure the systematic provision of a high quality, compassionate specialist psychologically informed Drug and Alcohol service to LYPFT clients and across the Forward Leeds partnership.

Working with senior leadership team colleagues to lead on the psychological aspects of clinical model development including embedding a trauma informed approach across the service; supporting the development of staff training and range of psychosocial and psychological therapy interventions. Taking opportunities to innovate, and evaluate through audit, research and development of robust governance structures.

Working with partners and senior leadership team to ensure governance structures are in place for clinical supervision for psychological therapy and psychosocial interventions.

Participating in, and overseeing the delivery of training in psychosocial interventions specific to addictions including motivational interviewing, social behaviour network therapy .

To oversee and contribute towards the provision of psychological input into the MDT meetings within the service.

Training in one or more specialist therapy for this client group would be advantageous (e.g, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR, CAT, Psychodynamic therapy).

To carry a small caseload of service users for psychological input and therapy, including supporting case managers with consultations around service users.

To take a lead in innovation within the service and to be an integral member of the senior leadership team, ensuring a sustainable addiction service within a competitive tendering environment.

To represent the addiction service at both internal and external forums and meetings.

To lead on governance & quality tasks within the team and across the partnership.

To support the work of other teams, agencies and services working into the specialist addiction service by providing advice, consultation, support and supervision.

To take the lead in identified service developments proposing and implementing policy changes within this domain that may impact on other professions and services.

Using professional skills in research, audit, policy and service development to ensure that the service continues to evaluate the impact of the work and to embed learning into practice.

To use research and clinical effectiveness skills to demonstrate a commitment to development and effective partnership working. To participate in the delivery of training for others regarding aspects of working with addiction clients.
