Construction Estimator

Construction Estimator London, England

NKD Construction Ltd
Full Time London, England 25 - 30 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

NKD Construction is a construction company that specialises in both residential and commercial construction, with a key focus on South West and South East London and with a key focus on loft conversions, kitchen side extensions, basement excavations and full-scale refurbishments and renovations, with a history in the building industry that spans over 10 years.

As a company that is hugely growing and with demand outweighing supply, we are in urgent need of an Estimator to join our team and assist with the quotation side of our business and tenders.

An Estimator (or Cost Planner) is required to work out how much it costs to supply our building contracts and services for our clients.

This is a fundamental role in our company and is the difference between our company winning or losing projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Finding out what the client wants.

· Researching materials, equipment, and labour costs.

· Gathering quotes from sub-contractors (if applicable) and suppliers.

· Assessing the levels of risk on a project.

· Analysing company data, exchange rates and prices using software packages.

· Preparing and submitting quotations for work.

· Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities.

· Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts.

Our Preference:

The successful candidate/Estimator must be a self-starter, good forward planner and will be required to make good judgements and assessments in relation to budget costs.

As an estimator you would collaborate closely with other professionals including construction workers, planners, and design teams, so team working skills are essential.

Qualifications Preferable:

A BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or a HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Workeragement / Civil Engineering (including an industrial placement) are preferable but not essential.

A minimum of three years' experience of managing elements of construction projects.

You would normally move into estimating work after gaining some industry experience as an estimating or surveying assistant so experience for us in this field is vital.

Please only serious applicants apply. A CV is required, and first stage interviews will be conducted in South East London in the Forest Hill area.

Good luck!
