About you
You will be articulate and friendly and enjoy working in a busy, visitor-facing environment. Energy and reliability are key qualities to bring to the role as you support the set-up of our busy programme of events, activities and corporate hire while also playing a key role on keeping the building and collections safe, secure and welcoming for all our visitors.
About the role
Reporting to the Visitor Services Supervisor, Museum VS Assistants are responsible delivering a visitor welcome that exceeds expectations, while also fulfilling many back-of-house and visitor facing support tasks.
The role is one of a team sharing a 9-week rota pattern of working that covers our 7-day operations. Evening and week-end working form a key part of the role.
All Museum Assistants act as keyholders for RAMM and receive training to undertake out of hours security call-out response (1 week in 9), for which a vehicle is provided.
The role requires you to have a full clean driving licence and to live within a 20 minute drive of the Museum. Only applicants who can meet this requirement will be considered for the role.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) is an award-winning regional museum funded by Exeter City Council and by the Arts Council through the National Partner Organisation scheme.
Re-launched in 2011 following a major Heritage Lottery Funded redevelopment, winner of the Arts Fund Museum of the Year Award in 2012 and with a vibrant exhibition, events and corporate hire programme, as well as visitor figures in the region of a quarter of a million per year, RAMM is a friendly and welcoming service that sits at the heart of Exeter’s cultural and economic life.
With consistently ‘Excellent’ reviews on Trip Advisor and a host of tourism awards since opening, RAMM has built an outstanding reputation for high quality exhibitions and a great visitor experience. The Visitor Services Team plays a key role in delivering these standards.
