We are seeking an ambitious individual to join the People and Engagement team, within HSBC’s Global Legal function, as a Communications Manager.

The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of internal communications within the Legal function. This role is an important and integral role for the team as it will support the delivery of various communication initiatives related to the delivery of the Legal strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • Own delivery of the monthly Global Legal newsletter
  • Manage Legal’s communication planner (our “Comms Runway”)
  • Draft / edit communications such as operational communications, scripts, presentations, announcements, articles
  • Design, upload and send ad-hoc emails via the in-house email marketing tool (Poppulo)
  • Create and arrange sign-offs and tracking readership on regular function-wide communications (e.g. newsletters)
  • Manage the Communications archive
  • Support and lead on comms campaigns/projects as required
  • Own and manage Legal Intranet/Workplace approach and pages
  • Creative input for videos and other key communications – using tools such as seenit, Canva and others to help bring our communications to life in an engaging way
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience, passion and success within internal communications
  • Proven track record producing a range of communications (verbal and written), such as scripts, articles, announcements, presentations
  • Experienced at running events (e.g. townhalls, webcasts, leadership calls)
  • Experience using data and feedback to adapt communication styles and channels
  • Ability to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritising and reconciling competing demands and resolving complex issues
  • Experience of using Poppulo or similar internal email tool
  • Proven robust stakeholder management skills at a senior level demonstrating gravitas and providing confidence
  • Self-starter, willing to take accountability and able to work effectively
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative and an appetite for continuous improvement
  • Ability to re-prioritise in very short timescales
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, can use excel spreadsheets to manage, analyse, and track data
  • Ability to translate business needs into appropriate solutions, experienced in delivering effective solutions to changing business needs

Desirable:

  • Experience in video editing, Seenit, Adobe Premier Pro, animations, photography, creative PowerPoints, infographics etc.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed organisation
  • Academic background in a related field
  • Internal communication qualification

The base location for this role is Leeds or London and it is a hybrid working arrangement.
