Cambridge University Library's Collection Logistics and Services Team are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, customer-focused, organised and proactive colleague to the role of Document Delivery Assistant based in the University Library's Main Building on West Road. This role is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team currently delivering Document Delivery Services; including Scan and Deliver (S&D), Electronic Legal Deposit (ELD), and RAPID Inter Library Loans (RAPID ILL).
The role holder will often be the first point of contact for service queries and will need to ensure that the high standard of customer service expected of the University Library is maintained. You will be responsible for meeting the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of all of the Document Delivery Services in a proactive, organised, and customer focused manner.
This role will include tasks such as finding and downloading content for RAPID ILL, processing, printing and shipping ELD requests, and processing Scan and Deliver requests for personal and private research as well as Moodle. When outgoing requests are unsuccessful you will be mediating the request and problem solving the error, this includes elements such as: checking and updating erroneous metadata, checking to see if there is a local holding, exceeds copyright allowance etc and notifying the reader accordingly. A dynamic and flexible approach will be required while the processes adapt and change to meet our needs and the system needs.
Strong organisational ability, good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, flexibility and an eye for detail and accuracy are all important attributes for this role in addition to maintaining accurate statistics and records of transactions.
What is RAPID Inter Library Loans (RAPID ILL) RAPID ILL branded for users as Request a Digital Copy is designed to provide mediated and non-mediated delivery of content (born digital and digitised) within a 24-hour time period. The system allocates requests to institutions based on their holdings, their time-zone, and how many requests they have placed (it is a free reciprocal service). We have our RAPID ILL integrated into our Alma environment, but, some institutions will use the standalone web version.
