Your Opportunity
The length of your apprenticeship will vary dependant on course provider and scheme. Rest assured, we will support your study time alongside your permanent role.
The topics you will learn vary from:
- Understanding the whole end-to-end underwriting process
- Negotiating with brokers and customers
- Insight into the legal environment of insurance

As an Underwriting Apprentice, you will work within our Commercial business, contributing to the development and management of a specific area of insurance working on our national and international customers and with our key broking partners. You will experience the whole end-to-end underwriting process including risk selection and assessment, pricing, structuring compliant programmes and policy wording coverage.
You will build relationships with key stakeholders within the commercial business to support our customers’ and brokers’ needs. You will have an opportunity to start your Zurich career in the dynamic, complex and exciting Insurance market, learning from experienced underwriters in your team.

What you’ll need:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including Maths and English
- Commitment & dedication to study an apprenticeship qualification
- Appetite to learn and achieve professional qualifications.
- Ability to use independent, analytical thinking
- Eye for detail
- A team player who enjoys working collaboratively and communicating with others.
- Effective personal planning and organisation
- Future thinking
