What it's like to work here:Located 10 minutes from Barnstaple and less than 30 minutes from the UK’s best beaches, Arlington Court, is a property of two halves with a Regency house and the National Trust Carriage Museum. The house includes an eclectic collection including masses of model ships, piles of pewter and a museum room of the last owner’s collectibles. Following the last descendant’s wishes there is a lots of flexibility within how the collection is displayed and interpreted.
The stables now include the National Trust’s carriage collection, the only one in the UK which is open to the public, making it a unique collection. There is an array of carriages from elegant coaches to humble carts. The garden and wider countryside of plateaus dropping to steep sided wooded valleys with their rushing streams form the backdrop and make this a magical place. The estate is currently undergoing lots of change, ensuring that it works harder for both people and nature.
