Clinical Logistics Imports Specialist
The role
The Clinical Manufacturing and Supply (CM&S) function is accountable for the supply of medicines to support AstraZeneca’s clinical trials. This includes planning, drug substance manufacture, drug product manufacture, packaging and distribution to depots / clinical investigator sites.
The Clinical Logistics team within CM&S has the accountability to ensure the distribution and logistics requirements of our supply chains are being met.
Reporting to the Director, Clinical Logistics and part of the Clinical Logistics team, this position will focus on the CM&S Logistics’ processes, data and systems required to smoothly import and export study drugs to ensure that supply to our patients is achieved.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ownership of Logistics flows and processes for Clinical Manufacturing and Supply (CM&S).
- Ensuring logistics lead times, FSI (First Subject In) and right first time targets are achieved.
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Clinical Logistics, including the active management of Import Licences.
- Building data-driven processes that are embedded in the AZ Supply System principles (Lean).
- Coaching the Distribution Coordinator(s).
- Demonstrating close collaboration with logistics partners, CM&S, clinical teams and AZ marketing companies to ensure the operational distribution activities meet the objectives of our business.
- Being part of the Logistics team to ensure operational performance is being achieved and improvement initiatives are being delivered.
- Owning and delivering improvement projects.
- Owning internal and external distribution data and reporting KPI measurements and trends.
- Maintenance and development of tools, guidance, templates and systems to support distribution activities and objectives.
- Build their own expertise and knowledge.
- Support the Director, Clinical Logistics to deliver the overall clinical distribution strategy.
The role follows SHE and GXP standards.
Essential
- Education according to CV.
- Experience in a global supply chain / logistics environment.
- Experience with Lean tools and methodologies.
- Experience of issue management and project leadership.
- Experience of developing data-driven processes and the continuous improvement of them.
- Strong and clear communication skills at various levels within a wider business context.
- Good problem solving ability and ability to react and lead within a constantly changing environment.
- Desire to increase knowledge within Logistics area of supply chain.
- Analytical skills.
- Fluent English ability.
Desirable
- Degree in Supply Chain / logistics or other relevant business discipline.
- Experience of global import and export requirements in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Experience with lean tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity of the pharmaceutical/clinical supply chain environment.
- Working knowledge of the logistics industry and the various government agencies and regulations involved with the distribution of products.
