Children’s Play Worker – Breakfast and/or Afterschool Club
City Kids, Central Cambridge
Part-time, Permanent
Hours: 3-6pm Afterschool Club (with possible Breakfast Club hours available)
Monday to Friday during school term time
Attractive rates above Government National Minimum Wage (NMW), commensurate with experience and qualifications/skills brought by the successful candidate.
City Kids in central Cambridge is recruiting two additional Play Workers to join our existing small team. The Club is both friendly and professional and provides breakfast and afterschool wraparound care to children aged between 4 and 11. We are located near St Albans Primary School on Lensfield Road, Cambridge CB2 1EN
We are seeking fun, patient, hard-working individuals interested in working with children in a caring environment. City Kids is a nonprofit founded by parents, registered with Ofsted, and committed to supporting and developing staff. This is a part-time, permanent post with opportunities for training and growth.
The main duties will include the following:
- Be a proactive member of a small, friendly and efficient staff team.
- Provide a safe, stimulating, nurturing and inclusive environment for all children.
- Set up equipment and activities before arrival of children.
- Plan, prepare and deliver quality/creative play opportunities within a healthy, safe and caring environment.
- Provide comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents or carers.
- Ensure all children attending sessions are registered on arrival and signed out by parent/carer on departure.
- Provide healthy refreshments and ensure that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- Consult with children and involve them in planning activities.
- Undertake appropriate and relevant external training.
- Work within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Childcare or play work 1 year (preferred). However, it is more important that you are whole-hearted and enthusiastic about the holistic development of the children we work with. Therefore, for the right candidate, full training would be provided.
