We require an enthusiastic and hard working individual to join our team who are responsible for the decontamination of reusable medical devices across Ayrshire.
The core activity of a decontamination unit is the decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilisation of reusable medical devices. You will undertake all tasks appropriate to the grade of CDU Technician throughout all zones of the Department. It is essential that you complete training in all aspects of the post together with the policies and procedures of the Department and be committed to complete the IDSc Technical Certificate.
Previous experience is not required although a good all round standard of education is essential. Good communication and inter-personal skills together with an eye for detail and a strong team player are essential to the role. You should have a high level of physical mobility and stamina due to the nature of the role.
The Department operates a competency based training programme which takes approximately 12 months to complete. Failure to achieve the highest levels of competency within the given timescales may result in termination of the contract. On completion of the training programme, progression will be made to Band 3.
Hours of duty are 37.5 per week following the below shift pattern:
Week 1 - Monday – Friday - 8.00am – 4.00pm
Week 2 - Monday – Friday - 12.00am – 8.00pm
As a demand led service, these working hours/days may be varied from time to time and may include working unsocial hours and/ or Public Holidays. You will be expected to be completely flexible in your hours of work to suit the needs of the service. Once fully proficient you will be required to cover on-call duties on a rotational basis.
