Role Purpose:
The Procurement function provides a professional service to every division of HSBC, to HSBC Holdings, to all HSBC Group companies in the local country, and increasingly to HSBC.
Procurement has continual challenging cost reduction target ($300m) to achieve and this role is critical to track the procurement’s performance, savings delivered and future pipeline.
The Category Manager is expected to support the GCM in managing the category like a business within a HSBC, but must earn this authority through an outstanding track-record of delivery.
The Category Manager is directly responsible for the delivery of category strategy and planning components of the sourcing cycle as directed by the GCM and, for the relationships owned by them on behalf of the Procurement function, is indirectly responsible for the full end to end source to pay cycle (all geographies). This includes all 3rd party spend and internal costs associated with the provision of those products/ services. In this context the Category Manager has the authority to develop the category, but must not undermine businesses' operational accountability for supplier relationships. There is a need to significantly uplift the Procurement functions category management and sourcing capability through a comprehensive strategy including intervention in sourcing activities, rigorous governance processes and people development.
It is expected that the Category Manager will sit on relevant leadership committees and positively influence appropriate forums of the businesses/ functions.
The Category Manager should follow the S2C (Source to Contract) and Category Planning process and governance, but is expected to adapt the approach where relevant to their category.
Provide, as a part of a team in a matrix management environment, timely responses and solutions for numerous diverse and complex purchasing, contractual and logistical issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead strategy and planning for a Procurement sub-category to deliver competitive advantage for HSBC business through cost savings, lifecycle value generation, demand management and innovation.
- Support the Global Category Manager in a specific sub-category area, covering all commodities within their respective sub-category with primary focus on HR, Resourcing (Perm, Exec and Grad) areas.
- Develop influential senior level relationships with designated businesses and functions.
- You will sit on relevant stakeholder committees and positively influence appropriate forums of the businesses/ functions.
- Driving business outcomes and behaviours with subject matter expertise to drive value through the category planning lifecycle.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong experience in a HR based Category Manager position.
- Driven business outcomes and behaviours with subject matter expertise.
- A background in monitoring supplier market and identify opportunities.
- Bring drive, energy and pace to category activity.
- Display excellent influencing skills.
- Proven background in developing and maintaining a global stakeholder network in a complex and dynamic business environment.
The base location for this role will be UK based with hybrid working
