JOB PURPOSE
The Credit & Cash Operations Senior Manager will be responsible for leading the Credit Management and Cash Office Systems and reporting sub-functions within the Finance function in the BBS, managing a team of c12 people (Manager, Supervisor and Administrators). The role is responsible for providing strong leadership and guidance to the team, delivering end to end services and transformation for transactions in accordance with Group policies, as well as the monitoring of qualitative performance measures for the team using Key Performance Indicators.
The role will ensure the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Cash Office Systems/reporting processes align to best practice, ensuring strict compliance with internal controls, alignment with the SOTC Global Process Owners vision and strive for continuous processes improvements of the function. The role will also manage the issue management process and work to minimize exceptions. The role is ultimately responsible for ensuring Burberry’s KPIs and SLAs are met to the high-quality standards expected, as well as transforming and ensuring that the combined Credit Management and Cash Office processes follow global best practice. The role will provide input and approval to Burberry global policies.
In addition, the Credit & Cash Operations Senior Manager will actively participate in the leadership of the team and the service delivery of the wider finance function in Leeds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery
- Manages and is accountable for transactional service delivery and operational procedures for Credit and Cash operations within the BBS. This includes ensuring that the metrics/SLAs are met
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date service delivery operations and ensure teams follows operational procedures that provide control and operational flexibility and appropriately protect the company’s assets.
- Responsible for Tax compliance within the SOTC sub-function.
- Lead and support the team in achieving objectives/adhering to KPIs’
- Oversee and manage relationships between the Business and Vendors
- Stakeholder management and communication with both internal and external parties
- Works with the commercial leadership to effectively plan and deliver agreed upon support services through the Burberry Business Services
- Owns and manages credit and cash support services' processes and operational procedures within the Burberry Business Services
- Accountable for all activities required to be performed within the Burberry Business Services by the Credit and Cash teams
- Identifies risk associated with execution of the assigned tasks within the business processes and escalates / mitigates / resolves as required
- Supports establishing and managing service level agreements and operating level agreements with internal Burberry customers (e.g., turnaround times, lead times needed)
- Delivers and maintains high customer satisfaction ratings by processing transactions accurately and meets agreed service levels for process specific areas
- Ensure deductions and claims are processed in a timely manner; root causes determined and brought to closure for recurring issues
- Identify root cause of issues causing incorrect data capture and take appropriate action to resolve
- Provide information to auditors / authorities as required
- Identify risks associated with the execution of the assigned tasks within the business process and escalates / mitigates / resolves as required.
- Identify new areas within transactional services where BBS can add value
- Support and drive special projects and other tasks, as needed, including design, testing, documenting and implementation phases
Leadership
- Provides leadership and vision to the BBS Credit and Cash team
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other departments and strategic partners
- Carry out people management responsibilities in accordance with Burberry's policies and applicable laws, continually striving to build a culture of high performance, including hiring, training, coaching/mentoring, career development and performance reviews
- Responsible for ensuring the transactions team produce accurate and compliant data in accordance with the Burberry KPIs/ SLAs
Continuous improvement
- Identifies systems and/or software improvements and active participation in implementation, documentation and training
- Responsible for credit and cash compliance and delivery
- Drive continuous improvement within the transactional processes.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Accounting or Finance Related Bachelor’s Degree would be desirable but not a necessity
- SAP training and certification would be desirable but not a necessity
- A formal professional accounting qualification would be desirable but not a necessity
- Strong leadership experience within Shared Services and or operational finance, delivering against targets.
- Proven experience in managing transactional teams, including history of hiring, training, motivating and retaining personnel. Can provide examples of effective leadership and getting the best out of people, including during demanding and unsettling periods of change.
- Experience leading and/or building a team in a Shared Service environment preferred.
- Experience of leading multi-work stream and change management projects preferred. Must be able to fully grasp the broader issues and provide functional guidance to those reporting to them, rather than rely on their own technical skill set.
- Has track record and appetite for delivering continuous improvement. Can provide examples of having led local changes as a means of reflecting strategic-level changes. Able to generate commitment to change amongst own team.
- Has built strong and sustainable relationships with a range of internal & external stakeholders at various levels of seniority and influenced them effectively. Can provide evidence of working collaboratively with peers.
