We are currently recruiting for a Casual Handyman/Duty Engineer to join our team at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh.
The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is located in the heart of Edinburgh and is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. The hotel boasts 269 bedrooms, a large banqueting and meeting complex hosting up to 500 guests, and an award winning bar and restaurant - One Square Bar & Brasserie. Additionally the hotel is home to One Spa, Scotland’s most renowned urban thermal spa experience.
Role
We are currently recruiting for a Casual Duty Engineer/Handymanat The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh. This role has flexible hours to work around your needs and the needs of the business This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to gain experience in maintenance in a busy hotel.
Responsibilities
NB - Training and guidance will be given on an ongoing basis until the trainee is capable of carrying out each task on his own.
Key Tasks:
- Demonstrate initiative at all times.
- To carry out routine maintenance, per checklists, and input into Empower/GXP
- To liaise with Housekeeping on availability of rooms.
- To carry out routine maintenance within public areas as directed by Front Office Manager, Executive Housekeeper, Spa Duty Manager, along with a qualified engineer.
- Prioritise work schedules in accordance with guest needs.
- To check on a frequent basis, relevant requests in GXP and complete guest/spa issues on same day.
- All Planned Maintenance Work Orders are to be completed along with a qualified engineer and taken from the GXP System daily as necessary; they will be carried out effectively and efficiently.
- Complete all work orders as required in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that adequate protection is in place whilst carrying out all works, leaving areas clean and tidy on task completion.
- All stock areas will be maintained in a systematic and tidy condition at all times; new stock stored as required in the correct location; and adequate notice given to Maintenance Supervisor and Chief Engineer for re-ordering purposes.
- Assist other engineers as and when required.
Key Relationships:
- Ensure full liaison with other members of the department.
- Strong communication with other departments, projecting a positive, helpful and friendly approach at all times.
- Work as a team with all members of the department, to ensure hotel objectives are met.
- Assistance and teamwork with contractors who are on site.
- Project a pleasant, positive and professional image at all times.
