Position Summary
This Bookkeeper plays an integral role in our Cloud Accounting Group by providing our clients with full cycle bookkeeping services, including revenue and expense management, bank reconciliation and summarizing financial information.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide the highest quality of service and attention to our clients by:
- Utilizing Xero, a cloud accounting technology to facilitate client bookkeeping;
- Maintaining bank account records; conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account;
- Conducting periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy;
- Coordinating and supporting preparation of the client’s financial statements;
- Assembling information for the year end work;
- Maintaining and updating accounting records by performing duties such as recording and posting transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll;
- HST/GST: calculations, reporting and filing;
- Processing payroll in a timely manner: calculations, reporting and filing;
- Complying with all Government reporting and filing protocols; and
- Maintaining electronic filing systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a Bookkeeping role and familiarity with basic accounting principles and full cycle bookkeeping;
- Extensive experience using cloud accounting software;
- Experience preparing HST;
- Experience processing payroll is an asset;
- Experience managing multiple clients’ deliverables;
- A keen attention to detail along with an ability to focus on the overall concepts;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Self-confidence and a team-player;
- Self-motivated with strong prioritizing and follow-up skills; and
- Ability to cope in a deadline-driven environment.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of Xero
- Knowledge of QuickBooks & Simply Accounting
- Knowledge of CaseWare, and Taxprep an asset
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Outlook and Word
