Caretaker / Security Guard
Location: Jubilee Library, Brighton
Business Area: Kier Places - Facilities Management
Contract & hours: Permanent, full time – Monday to Sunday, 4 days on 2 days off, with early & late rotas
Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays – Early shift (7.00 am to 4.00 pm), Late shift (10.30 am to 7.30 pm) with 1 hour break
Wednesday, Friday & Saturdays - Early shift (7.00 am to 4.00 pm), Late shift (8.30 am to 5.30 pm) with 1 hour break
Sundays - Early shift (8.00 am to 3.00 pm), Late shift (10.30 am to 5.30 pm)
Kier Places are recruiting now for a Caretaker / Security Guard to join our Facilities Management team at Jubilee Library in Brighton, to be responsible for the day to day maintenance, operational running, security & supervision of the site and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Caretaker with Kier FM, you’ll support the Facilities Manager to deliver an on-site facilities management service to required contract specifications, to ensure the continuous operational availability of the building. The role will include general building reactive & planned maintenance duties to ensure the site meets the required standard, including but not limited to: general reporting, low level lamp changing; minor joinery & plumbing repairs; water flushing; fire alarm tests; grounds maintenance such as litter picking, snow clearing, gritting, weeding & cleaning; portering duties, meet & greet for community users; setting up of conference rooms; and other tasks relevant to the role within your ability.
You may be required to be available to open and close the building as required to allow for community use outside of normal business hours and work overtime if required.
What do we need from you?
To be a Caretaker / Security Guard, you’ll need a background in general building maintenance, ideally with facilities management experience; a good understanding of health & safety; and have a customer-focused mind.
Although not essentially as we could provide training & support, ideally you’ll hold a HABC Level 2 Award for Security or Door Supervision, and/or a SIA security licence, as well as First Aid Training.
