We have a part time Carer’s Support Officer opportunity within the Learning Disabilities Team. We would welcome applications from people who are committed to high quality, person-centred practice.
The Vale Learning Disability Team is a multi-disciplinary team supporting adults 18+ with a diagnosed Learning Disability to meet their eligible care and support needs and personal outcomes.

The Learning Disabilities Team is a dynamic and exciting team with a varied and interesting workload. Our function is to:
- Respond to people experiencing crises through assessment, support and family liaison and the commissioning emergency placements/care packages when necessary.
- Complete outcome focused assessments ensuring the full participation of service users and/or their carers
- To enable unpaid adult carers to focus on their own needs and access sources of

Pay Details: Grade 5 SCP 8 – 12 (£22,777 - £24,496) pro rata
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 18.5 hours

About you
You will need:
- An understanding of a carer’s role and their support needs
- An understanding of the importance and value of user/carer empowerment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise work and to meet deadlines
- Ability to assess need, plan work, set priorities and review arrangements.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate information.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate with individuals, professionals and agencies.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work flexibly and under pressure.
- Ability to operate and maintain IT and casework management systems. A good standard
- Knowledge of Safeguarding issues and procedures in relation to Adults
- Knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunities policies and procedures
- Commitment to own personal development and further training.
- Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
