About the role:
Salary: £5.28 per hour

Contract type: Fixed term 18 months
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Care Assistant to join our team of dedicated and hardworking staff in Provider Services. We support adults with varied needs including Dementia, Autism Physical Disabilities and Learning Disabilities. The role involves working in different settings i.e. shared accommodation, people’s own homes, community centres, respite unit and sheltered accommodation
You will undertake complete personal care, (physical, social and emotional). You will support people to regain and develop their independent living skills. You will enable people to engage with activities and promote choice. You will focus on improving outcomes, which enhances and improves lives.
About you:
Support people with their physical, social, emotional and mental health including dressing, washing, bathing, personal care, emptying and cleaning various aids used within personal care, eg, commodes, bottles, assisting customers with their mobility and movement, using hoists, and manual handling.
Attend reviews and participate in the assessments, and to implement Care Plans for customers and where appropriate, devise new plans for consideration
Assistance with meal preparation and support with eating and drinking, if necessary. Prepare and serve beverages and snacks that may be necessary. Support with domestic duties when and if required in various settings.
Assist customers with appliances and aids, eg, artificial limbs, colostomy/catheter equipment, wheelchairs, communication aids, etc, where trained or under the supervision of a qualified person.
Participate actively in supervision/appraisals in accordance with the Council’s policy
Attend staff meetings and training courses as required in order to further knowledge / skills within their job role.
Following appropriate and authorised training, and under the supervision of medication trained day care staff, give pre-measured, prescribed medicines to customers.
Undertake any necessary minor dressing where trained or under the supervision of a qualified first aider.
Read and write up and communicate appropriate information to other staff/carers, as required.
Undertake and/or support the duties of a key worker for a number of people

- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, people supported, family members with understanding respect and confidentiality.
- Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Able to read labels (including prescribed medicine)/Care Plans /instructions/equipment manual and write clearly in care notes.
