Background
The Group Procurement department provides the main commercial interface between Pelsis and the supply base, developing and building strong relationships helping to maintain the company as a market leader in Pest Control. The department focusses on two main activities:
- Commodity management focused on developing long term sourcing strategies to reduce total acquisition costs, minimise risk and improve quality and delivery.
- Programme (NPI/D) sourcing driving supply chain activities to support new product development, portfolio management and business growth.
Role Summary:
The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for supporting the commodity team with the delivery of the complete range of sourcing activities including the analysis of spend, the formulation of and implementation of commodity strategies, the negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships including the management of new product introduction with suppliers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management of the day-to-day relationship with suppliers to build long term rapport and ensure the lowest cost of acquisition, balancing cost with the company inventory holding requirements to maximise business profitability.
- Support the development of sourcing strategies within the assigned commodity to deliver Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives aligned to business requirements.
- Support New Product Introduction challenging supplier costs and coordinating supplier involvement in the process in line with Commodity Strategies.
- Preparation, issue and analysis of Bid Packages to the supply chain.
- Negotiation of prices, terms and conditions and agreements as delegated by Commodity Managers.
- Set up new suppliers and parts on the system as required to deliver strategies and NPI and co-ordinate the hand-over to operations on project completion.
- Adhere to all policies and regulations in relation to product sourcing, governed either by legislation, customer specific / contractual requirements, company policies or technical controls to ensure on time delivery and quality can be met.
- Participation in improvement activities at department/company level to enhance business performance.
- Undertake other duties and tasks that may be allocated that are appropriate to the job.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Some sourcing experience within a technically demanding environment
- Some experience of managing a commercial relationship including negotiation and building effective relationship
- Effective communication skills both written and oral
- Able to maintain, influence and develop supplier relationships
- Able to negotiate and reach agreement
- Numerically competent
Desirable Candidate Requirements
- CIPS qualified
- BTEC national award
