Hybrid/Remote (Approx 2-3 days per week at our Support Centre)

About the role


In this busy and varied role, we are looking for a Learning and Development Partner to join our People Team. Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you will play an important role supporting our ambitious activities and plans to create and provide exciting and impactful learning and development opportunities for our 4000 colleagues across The Works.


You will work as part of our People team, reporting into the L&D Manager. Working across the business identifying development needs you will create fresh and innovative L&D opportunities from a range of digital and face to face solutions. You will be a centre of excellence for learning within the L&D team, evolving the spectrum of development opportunities across the business.


This role is based at our Birmingham Support Centre and is a hybrid role consisting of 2 – 3 days on site and the remainder from home. Dependent on the needs of the business there may be a less frequent requirement for you to travel to our other business locations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Work with the L&D Manager to deliver the L&D strategy.
  • Build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts to look for opportunities to implement digital or face to face learning solutions that benefit the business.
  • Create targeted programmes that utilise a blended approach to learning, working with the wider L&D team to deliver the biggest impact for the business.
  • Support the design and development of emerging talent programmes, apprenticeships and CPD opportunities.
  • Facilitate webinars and face to face training across the business with a flair for adapting your delivery style.
  • Create bitesize digital resources that inspire our teams to focus on their development, personal growth and career progression, enabling efficient and relevant learning across all levels and departments.
  • Drive the completion of all “essential” learning across the Support Centre to meet company / legislative requirements.
  • Partner with our external training providers - build strong relationships and work collaboratively to support key change initiatives.
  • Support the People team with wider projects i.e., talent identification and assessment tools and career paths.
  • Design training and engagement materials that support key business initiatives and areas of focus.
  • Develop stand-alone content to fit with key training needs and common themes across each business function.
  • Adapt and design learning materials for different audiences across the business using a consistent tone of voice and writing.
  • Work with the L&D Manager to deliver the emerging talent strategy.
  • Develop the LXP To be the focal point and portal for all L&D activity that is available across the business. Continuously reviewing the learner journey, to make access to learning as simple as possible.
  • Support Learning needs analysis for Support Centre teams, collate and make recommendations.
  • Educate Managers and colleagues on the Perf Cycle.


Desired Experience


  • A highly effective communicator, facilitator and trainer
  • Experienced in successfully identifying, developing and deploying impactful learning interventions, including on-boarding and leadership development. Health and wellbeing, diversity, equity and inclusivity training will feature significantly too.
  • Delivers high volume outputs, to high quality, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Uses data to support their judgement, making recommendations which achieve balanced outcomes.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and results focused.
  • Flexible, resilient, adaptable and sees feedback and change as an opportunity.
