As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Buyer to join the team to own the procurement for the development of our production capability. Your role will be primarily focused on the procurement of materiel and services to support in house manufacturing capability for non-flight materiel, including tooling, equipment, aids to production, and other enabling requirements.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of an experienced team of aerospace Buyers and Supply Chain Managers, supporting your personal growth and development in an emerging technology market.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of supplier performance and development in your category(s) of spend
- Assessing the cost, quality, and lead time risks/benefits to make appropriate procurement decisions for the goods and/or services in your category of spend
- Owning and delivering the full procurement lifecycle, from identification of suppliers through to placing POs, expediting, management returns and non-conformities
- Identify and manage supplier KPIs and invoice queries for responsible categories
- Developing and maintaining a tooling and equipment management system
- Developing and maintaining preferred suppliers with the Supplier Quality Management team
- Supporting Engineering, Test, and Production departments with consumable requirements and non-flight materials
- Supporting initiatives to improve productivity in production
- Supporting the Supply Chain Managers in the delivery and management of Capex and facilities procurement including tendering, negotiating on Terms and Conditions and executing Service Level Agreements where appropriate
- Negotiating, executing and maintaining site facilities, IT and logistics contracts
- Identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives for your category of spend.
Skills and experience required:
- Previous proven experience in a Procurement role
- Ability to assess cost, quality and lead time risks/benefits and make appropriate procurement decisions for the goods and/or services requested
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, both internal and external
- Ability to work collaboratively across functions to deliver project and business objectives
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proactive and positive approach to work with a creative approach to problem solving
- Good attention to detail
- A flexible approach to work.
Desirable:
- CIPS Level 4 or equivalent, or working towards accreditation
- Experience of evaluating through life costs and benefits through the procurement process
- Previous experience supporting procurement in manufacturing environments (automotive, aerospace, or industrial)
- Experience in managing a range of service providers.
