Job description

The Forensic Service Performance Team is a small dynamic team that provides activity and performance information for Inpatient and Community Forensic Services. We work closely with our commissioners, North London Forensic Collaborative (NLFC), which is formed of the secure services of five mental Health Trusts; which includes West London NHS Trust.

We are now recruiting to a new full time (37.5 hours p/wk) Band 6 Business information Analyst. This post will provide analytical analysis support to the Performance Team and work as an effective and integral part of the Team to ensure information meets the service and commissioning needs.

The post holder has a primary responsibility of providing analytical analysis and support to the Forensic service information, performance and quality improvement agenda as well as facilitating the generation of accurate and timely NLFC contract and internal performance reports.

To work alongside the Deputy Head of Business Management & Performance in providing on-going analysis and benchmarking of the CSU’s KPI performance in order to highlight problem areas and proactively engage with managers and clinicians to advise and resolve information reporting issues.

The role will also include managing ad hoc information requests from stakeholders and providing specialised information analysis and expertise.

The post holder will work closely with the Business Intelligence developers contributing to the on-going creation, development, testing and maintenance of a comprehensive range of reporting and BI reports that support clinicians and management in the delivery of clinical services and service improvement.

To be the Forensic Service expert on data standards and definitions using specialist knowledge of the service and guidance provided by the Central Information and BI Team.

Promote the understanding of data visualisation and analysis techniques and be proficient in application of statistical methods such as Statistical Process Control charts, and implement as necessary as part of performance management.

To quality check data held on the electronic systems on a regular basis. To analyse verified data to ensure it is reflective of actual activity and appropriate for statutory returns and other reports as appropriate. Where adverse performance is noted relating to data quality issues, highlight clinicians/managers of key issues and likely impact on performance and where possible provide necessary guidance and support to resolve them.

Continually work on improving the quality of statutory submissions, ensuring latest reporting specifications, data standards and published guidance are adhered to. This will include identifying root causes and working closely with Clinicians, Bed Referral Manager, Central Informatics team, BI development team, Clinical Application/Transformation team to resolve the issue identified.

Work in collaboration with Deputy Head of Business Management & Performance to propose and implement process or configuration changes with regards to clinical system usage in order to improve the captured data quality and information reporting standards.

To undertake an annual review and audit of procedures and analysis relating to routine reports and the quality of information therein for the Forensic Service
