Job Description
Data Business Analyst role will support the Analytics & Insights Team to develop and analytical capabilities across EMEA. This position requires a highly focused individual with a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and successful previous experience in a Analytics Business Analyst or similar role. Responsibilities include:
- Establish and maintain productive cross-functional relationships with a network of business stakeholders, technical delivery teams and external suppliers
- Identifying cross-functional use-cases which have the potential to deliver business value
- Establishing standardized templates and processes for gathering requirements, undertaking discovery work, and providing work effort estimates.
- Maintaining a prioritised pipeline of new demand items and features requests for existing analytics products.
- Facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to elicit, clarify, translate, and document business requirements (functional and non-functional) as well as generate user stories.
- Analysing and documenting business requirements and working with relevant teams to create appropriate technical documentation to facilitate the necessary governance approvals and underpin delivery of the project.
- Collaborating with a range of technical and non-technical audiences to quality assure delivery of analytics products through development, UAT and production release ensuring the end-product meets the documented business requirements. Providing a link between product owners and the delivery team(s) throughout the development lifecycle.
- Supporting the delivery of proofs-of-concept to test feasibility and value, uncovering benefits for our stakeholders, customers, and businesses.
- Collaborating with the wider data family, including analysts, engineers, and product managers
- Supporting the rollout and driving the adoption of Self-Serve Analytics
- Support the implementation of the EMEA Data Strategy Framework
The Successful Applicant
Data Business Analyst Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working in a data team and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, scope and develop data analytics solutions.
- Demonstrable experience as a Technical Business Analyst, System Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.
- An outstanding problem solver who has an analytical mindset, is inquisitive and excellent with technology enabling a creative approach to solution scoping and delivery.
- Strong SQL skills to support discovery and requirements analysis. This should include experience of working with raw and aggregated data and reviewing transformation logic as well as diverse and complex data sets and all data types.
- Demonstrable experience using of the tools, principles, and best practices techniques appropriate to requirements gathering, analysis and documentation.
- Solid understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) as relevant to analytics and ability to support the full project lifecycle for projects you work on including but not limited to: requirements gathering, design approvals, development, testing and release
- Experience of applying appropriate testing methodologies for analytics to quality assure development.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills: (i) comfortable presenting to and facilitating group of business users at all levels, (ii) ability to describe technical solutions to non-technical colleagues
- A good understanding of, and experience of applying, project management principles and approaches like waterfall and agile
- Experience of working in the financial services industry and knowledge of data related regulatory requirements for financial service sector
- Ability to plan and manage own work to meet challenging deadlines with minimal supervision
- Experience with using Power BI and/or Tableau to develop data driven dashboards.
- A good understanding of core mathematical and statistical concepts
- Experience of working in an organisation that has rolled out self-serve analytics tooling at enterprise level.
- Knowledge of emerging trends and issues within the Data Analytics and Data Science landscapes
- Experience working with cloud environments & components (e.g. AWS, Azure)
