Would you like to be part of a dynamic and rewarding service working with children and young people with additional needs in North Somerset?


The SEND clubs and activities service (SENDCAS) is looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Buddies to be part of a team providing support for children and young people aged 6 to 18, often on a 1-1 basis within group settings.


The vacancy is to support our specialist activity days during school holidays across North Somerset and to support the running of the Saturday club and Wednesday evening youth club, which are held at The Firs Resource Centre, Weston-Super-Mare. In addition to this there are opportunities to support children and young people with additional needs to access community clubs and activities, e.g. Scouts, drama, sport clubs. Areas we are particularly looking to recruit to are Long Ashton, Nailsea, Portishead and Weston. Inductions will be held on a Saturday morning’s or during school holidays. You will be asked to commit to at least 8 school holiday sessions per year.


We have strong links with colleagues across a range of teams including social care, children’s centres, health and education and committed to providing Continued Professional Development (CPD). The post holders will assist in delivering activities to children and young people with a wide range of needs. You will work closely with the SEND clubs and activities service (SENDCAS) Team Leader and will be required to comply with standards set by Ofsted. Good communication skills, flexibility and being a team player are essential for this post.


This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
