We are looking for a Bristol Rovers Writer to join the team at BristolLive where you will be responsible for finding and reporting on the stories and issues which matter to Rovers fans, in a way which ensures as many people as possible can access and respond to our work.

You’ll be delivering exclusives, agenda-setting analysis and finding the biggest and best stories about Rovers which engage as many readers as possible and shed new light on the goings on at the Mem to fans hungry for the latest news.

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

We are happy to consider applications on a flexible working basis, and will always aim to accommodate requests where possible.

This role is based in our Bristol hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in and around Bristol.

What will the role involve?

You’ll be building a community of readers online and in real life so your stories are shared across social media and word of mouth whilst being the face of our Rovers coverage online and in the community.

You will be able to tell stories in many different ways including news stories, interviews, features and real-time live blogs (especially around matches and fan Q&A opportunities).

Who are we looking for?

An experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge, you have excellent knowledge of football, Bristol Rovers and the EFL with good experience of covering a professional club.

You have a passion for digital storytelling in football journalism and ability to switch between delivering breaking news to fuller and detailed long-read features and tactical pieces. You will also be a strong people person who can develop and build contacts and knows the right questions to ask to get the best stories.
