Job Description

Breakfast Assistant

Reporting to: Senior Staff

Responsible to: Senior Staff

ROLE

1. Whilst working between the hours of 08:00am – 12:00pm under the title Breakfast Assistant, no care duties are to be undertaken, e.g. toileting, dressing, cleaning of any spillage outside the dining room area as this would allow cross contamination.

2. Your appearance is important and you should be suitably attired and not wearing any jewellery.

KEY TASKS

1. Ensuring tables are suitably laid for meal service e.g. appropriate cutlery, crockery, condiments, sauces, sugar, milk and serviettes are on the table ready.

2. Serving residents with the meal of their choice.

3. If toast is requested, you will prepare this yourself in the dining room

4. Encouraging residents to eat including offering support where necessary.

5. When the residents have finished their meal, you will clear away all dirty dishes – these plates to be cleared and stacked properly.

6. The dining area is to be kept clean and tidy at all times.

7. All clean crockery and cutlery must be stacked away from soiled and used crockery and cutlery.

8. Breakages, cracks faults and danger areas should be reported to your supervisor immediately.

9. When all residents have finished, the tables are to be cleaned with a cloth and cleaning fluid.

10. The tables must then be prepared for lunch with the appropriate cutlery and crockery etc.

11. Completing the menu choice for next day.

12. All cupboards and storage facilities are to be cleaned on a regular basis.

13. Carrying out morning coffee and tea round.

14. Completing diet and fluid chart if required.

Health & Safety

Compliance with Cartref Procedures concerning the 1974 Health & Safety Act, the 1994 Control of

Substances Hazardous to Health Act and any subsequent legislation is essential, thus ensuring a safer environment for residents and staff at Cartref Homes.

All cuts/abrasions are to be covered with a suitable dressing at all times

These should be read and signed at the commencement of employment.

Cartref reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any

time according to the needs of the business.
