Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for corporate accounting duties, including A/P, A/R, overseeing the production of the monthly financials, ensuring accurate billing of LCA programs, coordinating annual tax statements, and other financial and personnel duties.
Desirable Characteristics:
Well-organized with strong written and oral communication skills. Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and principles, including A/R and monthly billings for multiple locations/departments. A solid understanding of Excel (using formulas, sort, filter, etc.). Ability to prioritize duties and multitask when needed. Exemplify integrity, intelligence, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and an understanding and respect for others.
General Responsibilities:
- Process all A/P invoices in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure all invoices are categorized to the correct general ledger account and respective program.
- Ensure accurate itemization of employee benefits by program for billing purposes.
- Monitor and report on company cash flow.
- Maintain the Sage accounting system, and ensure all checks are recorded in sequence.
- Access Company database to extract data and run reports.
- Maintain A/P files.
- Produce A/R monthly invoices to respective contracting agencies for all contract programs in a timely manner, including monitoring receipt of payments and contacting delinquent accounts.
- Ensure all payments are deposited and logged upon receipt.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Build vendor invoices.
- Submit a monthly receipts and deposits to parent company.
- Submit yearly Business Receipts and Payroll Tax Statements, Business Property Statements, and other tax statements or information as required.
- Support the development of annual budgets for the Company and each program.

Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of work experience in Accounting or a related field.
- Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping and accounting practices and principles.
- Highly proficient in Excel and Sage, or similar accounting software.Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Familiar with accessing databases to pull data and run reports. Knowledge of FMP database preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.).
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize to ensure schedules and deadlines are met.
- General HR knowledge.
- Reliable means of transportation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to express thoughts logically, in written and verbal form using correct grammar.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of Company staff in a manner that promotes a "team spirit" and sense of cooperation.
- Ability to multi-task to meet program objectives.
- Ability to maintain confidential information obtained through job duties regarding detainees, employees, vendors, outside agencies, etc.
- A general level of personal discipline that gives evidence of the ability to meet schedules and deadlines in a timely and effective manner.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to provide the establishment with an effective working relationship with staff, other managers, participants, and outside business partners and agencies.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
