Biomedical Scientist (Haematology) Sheffield, England

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Full Time Sheffield, England 27055 - 40588 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

We are searching for a Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Haematology laboratories at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which includes the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospital sites.

Applicants must possess an accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences, have relevant experience in Haematology, and hold current registration with the HCPC (Band 5/Band 6 BMS). Ideally candidates will have completed the IBMS specialist portfolio (Band 6 BMS) or be ready for assessment.

We will also consider applicants without specialist portfolio or extensive experience if no suitable band 6 level applications are received. In these circumstances, we would appoint to AFC band 5, or an annex of the band 5 pay scale for applicants who are imminently about to obtain HCPC registration/trainees.

Successful applicant, following appropriate training, will participate in the 24/7 service provision on either site, as well as contributing to the extended core working as defined in AfC terms.

Shift working covering earlies, days, late nights, weekends and bank holidays will be required.

  • To be responsible for the production of accurate and timely Laboratory investigations.
  • Assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.
  • Adhere to all Trust and Departmental Policies.
  • Assist in planned Research and Development
  • Promote and maintain a high standard of relevant education and training.
  • Stimulate and take part in scientific and technical research and development (Band 6)
Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

Please view the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents for full details regarding this post.

When completing your application please ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the role criteria.
