Job description
Bar tender is the first impression of the restaurant as the bar is the first area of service for the customers before arriving at their tables. It is important to provide the customers with a positive experience before they step out of the bar. As a bar tender at Umi, you will need to be outgoing, confident and good at communicating.
Primary Responsibilities
- Making drinks to spec recipe
- Basic knowledge of classic cocktails
- Demonstrating responsible alcohol service
- Serving food
- Handling cash & other forms of payment
- Making proficient sales transactions
- Using a point-of-sale system
- Properly checking I.D.s – for guests who appear to be under 25 year-old
- Maintaining proper cash drawer balances
- Directing guests to sitting areas/restrooms
- Demonstrating product knowledge
- Maintaining a clean and organised bar area
- Stocking liquor, beer, wine, and glassware throughout the shift
- Properly labelling, dating, covering, and refrigerating prepped items for the bar. - Properly sanitising equipment, utensils, and glassware
- Good personal hygiene standard
- Performing opening, closing & side duties – setting up/breaking down the bar, cleaning glass/countertops, sweeping the floor, etc
- Answering questions - accurately and politely
- Creating memorable experiences to customers

Physical demands
- Ability to move throughout the restaurant (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time
- Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hand above shoulders
- Ability to occasionally, regularly, frequently move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry)
- Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment
Dress-code
- Smart Casual
- Wear an apron (provided)
- Maintaining a well-groomed appearance
- Long hair must be tied up or covered
- No trainers
Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Part-time hours: 5-15 per week
Salary: From £10.42 per hour
