About the bank support worker role
We are recruiting for a bank support worker. This is to provide the highest possible standards of care for residents in our Shepherds Corner care home.
No previous experience required, but must be willing to undertake all mandatory training that will be provided.
You will be providing support to vulnerable adults who:
- have a neuro-psychiatric diagnosis
- whose behaviours may at times be challenging due to their possible inappropriate nature and/or physical aggression.
Key responsibilities of the bank support worker will include:
- Monitor the health and behaviour of service users
- Assist in the development of a person centered plan
- Evaluate and analyse the needs of the service users through care programmes and reviews
- Support risk assessments to minimise and effectively manage any risk faced by service users
- Support the service users to develop and maintain friendships and relationships with others without being led to abuse
- Support the service users to plan both leisure and educational trips, accompanying them if desired
- To support our service users to develop daily living skills in order to able to live independently
- To promote person centred active support
- To promote positive behaviour support
- Undertake further ad-hoc tasks as required
About you, the successful bank support worker;
Experience and skillset:
- Strong interest in helping people to develop their capabilities and independence
- Patience: The service users often start from low capabilities and may make slow and limited progress
- Commitment: Service users benefit from a stable and supportive team
- Professionalism: Coolness, self-control and authority under pressure. You will be dealing with service users that occasionally can become very challenging
- Willingness to take on any issue, for example sometimes service users will need help with cleanliness issues and personal care
- Supportive of others in the team, always there to give back-up in tight knit working groups
- Natural robustness, in case of some potential physical confrontation. Also bouncing back where there are set-backs with service users
- High levels of ethics and morality including strong commitment to doing things right
