Job Summary
Athena housing and support is aimed to support young people 16+ into independence living. The homes are semi-independent currently based in Bedford, Luton and Hertfordshire. Our young people come from a variety of different backgrounds and they are often vulnerable or display challenging behaviour.
We are currently looking for Full time staff to work within our New residential home to complete keywork sessions and support young people in their accommodations.
We are looking for someone with at least two years experience of working with young people and have an equilivent of an NVQ level 3 in a relevant field.
Support Worker’s Role
To safeguard the young people and provide whatever support and assistance is required to facilitate the independence of young people by following their agreed support plans.
To provide practical advice, emotional support, training and assistance with the ultimate aim of enabling young people to lead a dignified and comfortable life in the community, independently and successfully.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To safeguard the young people and be responsible for the support and welfare of young people including their physical and emotional well-being.
- To assist in enabling young people to take responsibilities, where possible, for their own welfare.
- To assist, if necessary, with the practicalities of everyday living, e.g., shopping, budgeting, cooking, travelling, socialising, reporting incidents and any other occurrence etc.
- To assist in the young persons’ social, recreational, educational and employment activities.
- To participate in assessment, reviews and case conferences of young persons.
- To participate in regular professional supervision with your Line Manager.
- To participate in staff meetings and training days if necessary.
- To ensure that emergencies are responded to at any time as authorised by the Line Manager.
- To produce reports concerning young persons as required.
- To undertake any other duties consistent to the basic objectives of the post as designated by the Line Manager.
- To respect the confidentiality of the Company’s business.
- To exercise responsibility under the Health and safety at Work Act, 1974, as lay down by the Company and that may be amended from time to time.
- To act at all times in accordance with the Company’s Equal Opportunity Policy and any other policies adopted by the Company and to ensure that they are understood and adhered to by all concern.

Salary: £222.21 per day
