An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join our highways and transportation team to help deliver design, maintenance, and engineering services. You will help grow a team and the business, and work on projects across the UK. This will enable you to advance your career, whilst giving you the freedom to achieve personal growth and development. Ideally, we are looking for a professionally accredited (IEng or CEng) engineer for the role in the structures team. The candidate should have at least 8 years’ experience and immediate work winning opportunities. The role is based in either our Slough or London Office.
The position itself will include, but not be limited to:
- Grow and maintain relationships with existing and new clients to influence and impact the growth and direction of the business
- Actively seek new opportunities for projects
- Maintain and improve financial targets including labour revenue, sales rate etc.
- Development and delivery of concept, preliminary & detailed highway designs
- Preparation, checking, and verification of calculations, written reports, and drawings
- Providing technical leadership and support to junior colleagues
- Project, commercial, and programme management and commercial implementation of project change
- Promote sustainability and the use of sustainability assessment tools for projects
- Managing H&S and planning of site visits, inspections, and intrusive investigations
- Execution of CDM duties and acting as Principal Designer
- Client Account Management
- Contribute to the business strategy and plan
- Staff line management and development aligned with industry professional institutions
Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:
- Accredited Masters or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant Institution
- be able to lead the growth of the structures team within the region and contribute to national business development
- have immediate opportunities for PCL to expand the highways and transportation client base within the region and a pipeline of future opportunities
- be adept at working in and leading a design team environment
- be self-motivated with good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- possess strong analytical ability and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and current technical standards
- have strong commercial skills and a detailed understanding of NEC and other industry forms of contract
- demonstrate sound judgement of commercial and project risk and be able to deliver multiple programmes of work
- communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients, and contractors
- have a detailed knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and CDM duties
- be able to plan and implement safe systems of work
- have good computer skills on the Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
