Are you interested in working within the criminal justice system?
We are seeking an experienced Psychology Assistant to support the Forensic and Clinical Psychology Team to develop the mental health and learning disability pathways in the local prisons.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with providers Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation and Rethink, supporting prisoners mental health and well-being.
The post holder will work within the forensic and clinical psychology speciality and will provide psychology input to the prison based at HMP Hull and Humber.
We are looking for a highly motivated, confidant assistant psychologist who has a strong interest in prison work.
The post will involve working with adult males in the prisons who present with risky behaviours and who display signs of complex mental health difficulties.
You will be required to have a good vision of the service and requirements, supporting the development of a specialist psychology service within the prison mental health provision.
Applicants will need to be equipped with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership as the psychology representative within the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will be working within our growing group of forensic services which is closely aligned to our secure in-patient services. You will be part of a friendly and supportive group of psychologists, who maintain a strong identity as a psychology department whilst also being key members of multidisciplinary teams. We are members of the local Post-Qualification Training Network, providing frequent opportunities for accessing high quality CPD events and training, linking to career development. The psychology department has strong links with the University of Hull. The post will provide the opportunity to contribute to service-based evaluation and audit, service development and teaching/training. As a department, we are actively trying to develop our research activity.
