Job description
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Head Chef Designate to join our team at Distinct Group Ltd. A great opportunity to join an independent, family owned, company with focus on great food and service as well as training, and a culture of internal progression and promotion.
Distinct Group Ltd currently owns two luxury hotels, the Bedford Swan and Hotel Cromwell Stevenage. Both hotels have recently been completely refurbished and there are ongoing plans for new projects at each, as well as possible new hotels in the group.
As Head Chef designate you will be responsible for covering holiday and sickness at both hotels, helping to lead, train and motivate the teams when you are there. At the same time, you will be working closely with the Group Chef to ensure you are ready for a Head Chef position within the group should one become available.
Both hotels have a British Brasserie with 100-150 covers, a busy conference and banqueting business and an outdoor terrace area, The Bedford Swan also has a tearoom.
A successful candidate for the head chef designate position will have experience working in both banqueting and a busy restaurant business, may possibly be an existing sous chef and should be excited to develop their career and learn to manage both areas of the hotel effectively. Our head chef designate will be passionate about leading and developing the team around them; have an excellent understanding of food hygiene and health and safety management; be able to confidently use computer systems to order and control stock as well as emails and rotas; and above all be able to consistently deliver great food!
As work will be at both hotels you must have a full and valid driving license to apply for the head chef designate position. Hotel accommodation can be provided if required.

*OTE salary consists of £33k basic pay and an average of approx. £2k in tronc payments/year.
