The role:
This exciting and innovative Apprenticeship scheme is all about building future talent for MAG within the Project Management team. As an Apprentice Project Manager, you will work closely with Dave Shaw, our Programme Delivery Manager here at Manchester. You will work within the team to support the delivery team with safely and successfully delivering Capital Delivery Projects across the airport portfolio. You will work in conjunction with the Capital Delivery and Asset Management Teams at the airport, supporting on delivery to agreed budgets and timescales.
This apprenticeship an exciting opportunity to see first-hand how Capital Delivery and Asset Management directly supports the delivery of our airport’s objectives, as you will be placed across different categories and areas of the team allowing you to discover your own future career aspirations.
Learning:
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded with an Associate Project Management Level 4 Apprenticeship Association for Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ). Below is just some of the things that you can expect from this apprenticeship opportunity:
- Learn and understand the fundamentals of project management, including stakeholder management, finance planning and risk assessment
- Learn and understand the use and functionality of NEC suites of contracts
- Develop the ability to contribute to building and presenting well-constructed and credible CAPEX businesses cases.
- Learn how to create and manage a project schedule, budget, and cost control process.
- Be able to identify and procure project resources, including negotiating contracts with suppliers.
- Learn how to identify and mitigate project risks, as well as track and report on risk and issue status.
- Develop an understanding of project governance processes and methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, and how to choose the best approach for a given project.
What will make you successful in this role:
We’re looking for applicants that have experience within a working environment. It would be great if you have some knowledge of procurement as this will help you in your role, however, it isn’t essential as full training will be provided.
From an academic standpoint, you should have at least 8 GCSE’s (A*-C or Levels 4-9) which include Maths and English. You will also have two strong A level’s (C and above).
