Job description
The Elim Tamil Ministries is a registered Christian charity in the United Kingdom and Incorporated with Elim Pentecostal Church, UK. In order to meet the needs of the pastoral ministry, the church has resolved to recruit a suitable Assistant Minister to serve primarily in the Tamil speaking community in the UK and he/she will be responsible to Senior Minister. The main office will be located in East London, but the candidate may be required to travel across the UK in order to meet our ministry's needs. Working hours may be flexible, and there may be an option to work from home as well.
Description:
The Assistant Minister is an unordained/ordained minister and responsible to assist the Senior Minister with ministerial and support needs as they arise. Assistant Minister may be assigned specific tasks to perform or areas of ministry to administrate, to cater for the spiritual needs of our congregation such as preaching, teaching, pastoral counselling, planning, and guiding the church or ministry to grow and fulfill its purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Disciple, train, and support members of our congregation with a focus on our church ministries.
- Teaches and leads Bible study classes or small groups.
- Visits grieving church members.
- Represents the Senior Minister at committee and ministry team meetings as
requested.
- Cooperates with all staff to promote the vision of the church.
- Serves as an effective liaison to church committees and team ministry efforts.
- Maintains a continued growth of personal calling and walk with the Lord
through Bible study and prayer.
- Develops and exercises personal evangelism within and outside the church.
- Gives graciously to the church through tithes and offerings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister.
Qualifications:
The applicant must be committed to a personal ministry of proclamation of the historic Reformed Faith delivered once for all to the Saints, having personally accepted the singular saving Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Scripture as the inerrant and infallible rule of faith and practice, and having personally committed to model Biblical discipleship in his/her daily life.
- Strong public speaking skills and ability to deliver engaging sermons
- Knowledge of religious texts, theology, and church doctrine
- Ability to provide pastoral care and counseling to individuals and families
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
