Summary of Position:
This position will be the primary person responsible for coordination of laboratory services, including supplies, maintenance, and personnel in the Pharmaceutical Care Learning Center (PCLC) for both the Duluth and Twin Cities campuses.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Customer Service Support

  • Serve as point person for student and instructor requests for assistance with supplies and PCLC equipment. This includes ordering and coordinating supplies for Campus Life Programs (CLPs); ordering and coordinating supplies for laboratory sessions as outlined by course instructors and faculty; printer maintenance for the laboratory space; and submitting work requests as needed for computer equipment or maintenance of PCLC facilities.
  • Provide and maintain an adequate inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for use in PCLC instruction. This will include managing inventories of supplies such as medications, nonsterile compounding supplies, sterile compounding supplies, and patient education materials; reconciling financials including purchase card processing; and assisting with donation processing.
  • Design, construct, and maintain the learning areas for use in specific simulations, activities, or workshops. This includes maintaining classroom technology (tablets, interactive whiteboards, video capture system) and lab equipment for classroom use and cleaning the Twin Cities lab space regularly.
  • Serves as a liaison with University of Minnesota Facilities Management to provide logistical support to ensure a quality presentation of the physical space, equipment, and furnishings in PCLC.
  • Serve as the PCLC representative on the Lab Safety Committee, and other committees as needed.


50% Administrative Support

  • Coordinate events to facilitate PCLC courses including teaching assistant orientation and course assessments.
  • Provide administrative/clerical support to the courses taught in PCLC including the coordination of communications with the students, arrangements for class materials, maintenance of records and schedules, and managing and maintaining the course Canvas sites.
  • Implement course accommodations decided by PCLC instructors and faculty for students registered with the Disability Resource Center.
  • Coordinate guest lecturer and/or teaching assistant arrangements including being the first point of contact, scheduling, validating parking, and coordinating the distribution of learning materials.
  • Assist the instructors and faculty with the coordination of work done by 25-35 teaching assistants including scheduling, maintenance of training records, orientation to office equipment and PCLC procedures, assisting with technology issues, and overseeing the administrative duties assigned to the teaching assistants.
  • Work with organizations and MSimulation (MSim) to build a network or process for the use of simulated patients to work with students in PCLC.
  • Provide grading support for online, asynchronous student work in PCLC courses.
  • Serve as Canvas TA for the PCLC courses.
  • Provide administrative/clerical support to the PCLC teaching team as needed, including organizing virtual or in-person meetings, maintaining meeting minutes, reviewing budget reports, submitting travel and expense reports, etc.


Work Arrangements

This role is offered as an on-campus position where you will be required to be onsite at our Minneapolis, MN campus on a regular basis. Any flexibility with this requirement or the specific schedule can be discussed with and determined by the supervisor.
