The Area Incident Team ensures that the Greater Manchester Merseyside and Cheshire area is prepared and ready to respond to incidents. You will support our multifunctional planning, preparation, response and recovery activities for all types of environmental, flood and business continuity management incident.
The responsibilities of this diverse role include:
- supporting technical leads to develop, maintain and improve our incident management plans and procedures
- implementing improvements to our incident management systems and ways of working
- assisting with the planning and delivery of training and exercising to incident staff, including acting as the local lead for an incident support role
You will be expected to support our response to all types of incidents, including contributing to the initial tactical response to emerging incidents during office hours.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what the Environment Agency does. As well as your incident work in the AIT, you will be required to take on a duty incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role. We will work with you to find a suitable role to account for your usual role and personal circumstances.
You will provide logistical support to an experienced team of Incident Advisors as they ensure that the area is capable, confident, and committed in providing the most professional response to incidents

- be self-motivated, working well both in a team environment and under your own initiative
- be resilient and flexible in your approach, responding well under pressure and in changing circumstances
A working knowledge of incident management would be an advantage.
You will be based from our Warrington office. There will be an expectation of regular travel to the office and less frequently to those of partner organisations, as well as the flexibility to work from home as per our team agreement.
