Job title: App Designer (UX & UI)
Reports to: Senior Product Designer
Location: Peterborough or London Euston (Hybrid)
The App Designer will join a team which oversees one of the organisation's most focal digital touchpoints.
In this role, you will lead the UX discovery and UI design processes associated with the Travelex app.
Your expertise will play a pivotal role in creating the most optimal user experience for its users.
Collaboration and partnership with designers responsible for other Travelex digital assets, will also be essential to the role.
You will assist in developing and maintaining the Travelex design system, ensuring brand and UI consistency is applied in all that you deliver.
The design process will see you collaborate closely with a team of developers, while your discovery work, definitions and designs will be presented to the wider team on a regular basis.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
  • Producing production ready design components, patterns, user flows and experiences for the Travelex mobile app
  • The ability to plan, conduct and report on user research activities
  • Demonstrate the application of UX research findings, design principles and usability heuristics
  • Produce conceptual sketches, wireframes, prototypes, interaction specs and other deliverables, to support a user centered product development
  • Work to eradicate design debt and achieve consistency across mobile platforms
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Travelex design system
  • Create solutions that consider different contextual use cases, to ensure customer interactions are intuitive and painless
  • Work with Product and mobile engineering to ensure the best possible outcome from a visual and interaction design perspective
  • Present and justify design decisions to the Product team and other senior stakeholders
  • Work as part of a broader design team that aims to deliver design consistency and best practice across other Travelex digital assets
Skills, knowledge, and experience:
Must have:
  • Platform specific expertise (IOS & Android) with a working knowledge of the constraints and opportunities of native design
  • The ability to craft intuitive and visually appealing interfaces that consider interaction patterns, gestures and the ergonomics of mobile devices
  • Process driven, with a meticulous approach to digital asset creation, file management and project documentation
  • Experience working with and maintaining design systems
  • An understanding of usability, interaction design and research theories and principles
  • Experience of developing sketches, wireframes and other design artefacts for digital design projects
  • Practical knowledge of UX role in agile Scrum methodology ways of working
  • Interprets and applies data, UX research, and insight to inform design decisions
  • Pragmatic and can balance needs of user and the business
  • A question driven, user focused approach to problem solving
  • The ability to present, listen and question during Product meeting scenarios
  • A passion to evolve their knowledge and skills in the field of UX and UI design
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in UXD or a relative qualification and/or experience
  • Experience working within a global company, or corporate environment with remote teams
  • Familiarity with platform specific guidelines such as, Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Google's Material Design.
Technical / professional qualifications and experience:
  • Experience designing native mobile solutions, backed by a portfolio of example projects
  • Experience building and managing design systems in Figma
  • Working knowledge of MV testing and personalisation platforms
  • Excellent knowledge of working tools i.e., Microsoft Office 365, Miro, Trello, Jira, and Confluence
  • Keen interest in emerging technologies and product development
